Lara Vidal is an Analyst at GSIS. Ms. Vidal completed her MA in International Studies at Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) at their Nanjing University campus with concentrations in International & Comparative Law and China Studies. Ms. Vidal wrote and defended her MA thesis in Chinese on Chinese refugee law and its specific application to North Korea. During this time, she collaborated with the Inter-American Institute for Democracy, directing roundtables and discussions over China’s social and economic future.
Prior to joining GSIS, Ms. Vidal worked as a research associate for the Middle Eastern Studies Program at Southern Methodist University where she completed her BA in International Studies and History. She also served as an intern for the Embassy of Spain in New Delhi, India, where she acted as a liaison to the think tank community and wrote reports for the Chargé d’affairs on current events involving India, Bhutan, Nepal, Sri-Lanka and the Maldives. Ms. Vidal brings to GSIS extensive regional knowledge of Latin America and East & South Asia. She is fluent in Spanish and Mandarin in addition to English.
