GSIS Principal, former Commissioner of Customs and Border Protection and US Border Patrol Chief , David Aguilar went live on FOX: On the Record w/Greta Van Susteren to discuss the increasing numbers of children crossing the US-Mexico border and the issues the US border system must resolve.

Commissioner Aguilar noted that the Border Patrol, Immigration and Customs Enforcement and health and human services are doing all that they can when it comes to apprehending illegal immigrants with the resources available. The system falls apart between apprehension and handoff of illegal immigrants. Commissioner Aguilar emphasized the need for reform in the Executive Office of Immigration Review, where judge dockets are booked with over 800,000 individuals waiting for trial. It takes anywhere from three to four years to remove an illegal immigrant from the EOIR docket.

While Presidential politics discuss the need for a larger wall, Commissioner Aguilar underlined the fact that a wall is but a piece of the solution–policy adjustment, regulation review and new laws are crucial to resolution of border security system breakdown.
